Recover Yourself

This is a poem centered around my relationship with depression. How I see it, how I try to deal with it when it comes calling. I am grateful that I have learned tools to combat these episodes with ‘the black dog’, and that it is not always following me around. But it has helped to capture the thoughts that connect my mind to my perception of the world.

I like to remind myself that often our view of the world is often so bound up with how we feel in this moment. Yet when we try to reach outside of ourselves and connect with others in a more positive light, this simple shift can do wonders. It can change the way we receive and interpret the outside world.

It is by no means perfect, but I hope you enjoy it. And if any part of this resonates with you, please contact me. I always love to hear from you!
